# Refining OpenMRS Development Stages

At the OpenMRS Implementers Conference in Maputo in 2015 ([#MOZ15](http://lanyrd.com/2015/moz15/)), we formally introduced [OpenMRS Developer Stages](https://wiki.openmrs.org/x/uYS-B). This is mechanism by which developers can progress from a new community member (/dev/null) to a leader (/dev/5) as their contributions and engagement with the OpenMRS community progresses.
