Hi everyone,

I was able to install OpenMRS for an NGO in the Dominican Republic. Before I leave back to the US I need to train their staff & volunteers. I have tried a couple links on this page but I one of two messages 404 site not found or this site can’t be reached. Does anyone know if there is any sort of training guide available for situations like this?

You may want to check the current OpenMRS training resources. There’s an [OpenMRS Fundamentals Academy](https://openmrs.org/courses/) that looks like a good starting point for training staff and volunteers.

**Hi @lparedes, thanks for setting up OpenMRS for the NGO in the Dominican Republic!** 🙌

Sorry about the broken links — a dedicated O3 user manual is still in the works and hasn’t been published yet, which likely explains the 404s you’re seeing.

Here are some resources that should help you train staff and volunteers:

**1. Built-in interactive tutorials (best option for hands-on training)** OpenMRS 3.x includes a **User Onboarding app** with step-by-step guided walkthroughs covering the core workflows your staff will need:

- Basic dashboard overview & navigation

- Registering a patient

- Finding a patient

- Patient chart navigation

- Recording vitals & biometrics

- Starting a patient visit

- Managing patient lists

You can enable it by setting `showTutorial: true` in your OpenMRS configuration. This is probably the most practical way to train people directly on the system they’ll be using.

**2. OpenMRS Fundamentals Academy** A free online course that covers the basics of OpenMRS — good for giving staff a foundational understanding before hands-on practice: 👉 [OpenMRS Fundamentals Academy – OpenMRS](https://openmrs.org/courses/openmrs-fundamentals-academy-2/)

**3. User & Admin Guide (Confluence)** General documentation for clinicians, data clerks, and end users covering everyday tasks like logging in and finding patient records: 👉 [https://openmrs.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/docs/pages/25475723/User+Admin+Guide](https://openmrs.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/docs/pages/25475723/User+Admin+Guide)

**4. Training tips from the “Transition to OpenMRS” guide** This page has practical advice on structuring training sessions — e.g., holding smaller focused sessions rather than one long training, training people to become trainers, and planning for ongoing training as new staff join: 👉 [https://openmrs.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/docs/pages/515670161/Transition+to+OpenMRS](https://openmrs.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/docs/pages/515670161/Transition+to+OpenMRS)

**Suggestion:** Since you’re leaving soon, consider enabling the built-in tutorials and doing a short hands-on session with a few key staff members who can then train others. That way the knowledge stays in-country after you leave.

Good luck with the training! 🎉
