Hi all!
I am Jens Kaasbøll, a professor of information systems at the University of Oslo. And yes, we are the ones behind DHIS2. We are also involved in creating academic programs on health information systems in 10 African and Asian universities. One of the components in such programs is EMRs, and we want the students to acquire skills in implementation and configuration of OpenMRS. Thus we are looking for training material and possibly university courses on this topic. I have seen the YouTube channel and the Gdrive folder Presentations and Session Outlines - Google Drive
which contains useful material. Do any of you know of other presentations/explanations of how to configure the software? Cases? Assignments for training? Other useful material for learning?
We’ve had a squad or team come together periodically to work on our two mentorship programs (GSoC and Fellowship Program), our OpenMRS Fundamentals Academy (in-person & online). Right now, our Professional Development Management Team is working to organize, update/improve, and package our different professional development offerings as an OpenMRS Academy. They meet every other Tuesday & Monday - and you’re more than welcome to join one of their calls.
Reach out with any questions about our existing materials, where we’re going in 2024, or even suggestions!
I am in Ethiopia now, where they are struggling with Bahmni, and where they, in my opinion, need to include OpenMRS configuration in their health informatics curricula.
I would very much like to attend meetings in your team working on OpenMRS Academy.
I cc some colleagues in Ethiopa, Tanzania, Nepal and Norway.
Even better: we’ve held a couple of bootcamps/hackathons for Ethiopia in the past year and we envision building on the success of these activities through our Academy.
We would be thrilled to have you and your colleagues join our Professional Development/Academy calls! The next one is on Monday, November 13. You can also use the links below to add them to your calendars - and I’m happy to add you directly as well.
