GSOC 2025: Enhancing OpenAPI Documentation Generation

Hello, My name is Somelina. I am new to open source contribution and I found OpenMRS through GSoC, I am very much interested in this project idea: Enhancing OpenAPI Documentation Generation.

I am still doing some reading into the project idea based on resources that I am finding on OpenMRS project information page.

I would like to ask the best way to seek guidance for creating my official submission template and also the best way to create a timeline for this project. Would there be any templates that I could reference by any chance.

Hi @ifeasome , thanks for your interest in this project. You might find the GSoC student proposal guide helpful. There are some past proposals there.

For this particular project, the problem scope is fairly domain specific. You might want to play around with the REST api and the Swagger / OpenAPI docs we currently have to get a sense of it. There are also some existing PRs (here and here) that address some of the issues within this project that you might find relevant.
