From OMRS21 to.....an OpenMRS Evaluation Squad!

At OMRS21 last week, @beth did a great Lightning Talk about OpenMRS and Evaluation. @hamish @dmunson and @beth then led a fantastic unconferencing session that focused on the purpose of an “Evaluation Squad” and what that squad could do that would be of value to OpenMRS implementers and the broader community. If you missed it, check out the notes! (We’re working on getting the recording).

We’ve reached a point where enough people, including those from at least four organizations (Brown, UW, PIH, and Intellisoft), are interested that we can get a squad together.

We hope that all community members who expressed interest in moving forward with an Evaluation Squad will join a kick-off meeting on Monday, 13 December at 6:30pm IST | 5pm Nairobi | 4pm Cape Town | 2pm UTC | 9am Boston | 6am Seattle

Some possible agenda items include:

  • priorities of squad
  • links to existing literature etc.
  • Setting up Doodle to pick time for Squad Meetings
  • Establish twice-monthly squad meetings starting in Jan

In the interest of getting a feel for everyone’s general availability for a regular call ahead of Monday’s kickoff meeting, please share your weekday availability using this Doodle poll .

Wondering when? Monday, 13 December at 6:30pm IST | 5pm Nairobi | 4pm Cape Town | 2pm UTC | 9am Boston | 6am Seattle

Where: Launch Meeting - Zoom

We had a great Eval Squad kickoff meeting earlier today! Here are the main points we discussed:

Setting up wiki pages about evaluation & the squad

When should the squad meet?

  • Frequency: Start bi-monthly, move to monthly
  • Tuesdays at 2pm UTC | 9am ET | 6am PT
  • Next meetings: January 11 and January 25

Brainstorming: What should this squad prioritize?

  • See the notes!

Action!

  • Add routine meetings to the OpenMRS Calendar
  • Survey implementers
  • Start adding evaluation resources to the Wiki page
  • Set up a sign up sheet and start reaching out to people who might want to present in January

And we’re off!

Here’s how @beth is getting things going:

Thanks for a great kickoff!

To get the survey ball rolling, I threw some rough ideas on the page and figured I’d nudge you all to chip in when you have a moment!

Cheers,

Beth

And here’s a sign up sheet for the Evaluation Show & Tells.
