Daylight Saving Time begins in USA on 12 March

FYI: Most of the United States, Canada, and Mexico’s northern border cities will begin Daylight Saving Time (DST) on Sunday, March 12, 2017. People in areas that observe DST will spring forward 1 hour from 02:00 (2 am) to 03:00 (3 am), local time. Cuba, Haiti, Bermuda, The Bahamas, Saint Pierre and Miquelon, and the Thule Air Base in Greenland will also start DST on the same date.

We are trying to use UTC more and more often in our OpenMRS community meetings, but historically used US Eastern Standard (or Daylight Saving) Time. As a result, some older meetings may experience a shift depending on your location. Please check with your meeting organizer(s) to confirm whether or not your effective meeting time will change with the shift to DST in the United States.

To be precise, if you are following US DST, then:

  • Monday design forum moves one hour later (it switches slots with the PM call)
  • Monday project management call moves one hour earlier (it switches slots with the design call)
  • Wednesday design forum stays the same
  • Thursday developers forum stays the same

If you are not following US DST, then:

  • Monday design forum stays the same
  • Monday project management call moves 2 hours earlier
  • Wednesday design forum moves one hour earlier
  • Thursday developers forum moves one hour earlier

Please note that Europe begins DST Sunday, March 26, 2017. More DST dates and locations are available here: https://www.timeanddate.com/time/dst/2017a.html
