Darshan Hiranandani : How Can I Add Multiple Gender Options Beyond M/F in OpenMRS?

Hello everyone,

I’m Darshan Hiranandani, currently working with OpenMRS Standalone version 2.5.9 (Build 0) and I haven’t encountered any issues so far. However, I’ve been tasked with finding out if there’s a way to include more gender options beyond just “M” (Male) and “F” (Female) during patient registration.

Is there an OpenMRS version that already supports multiple gender options out of the box, or will I need to make some modifications to extend the gender options?

I apologize if this question has been addressed before, but I’d greatly appreciate any insights or suggestions. I’m a freelance developer, and some private institutions in my country are looking to implement OpenMRS, and they’ve requested this feature.
