I installed the Reference Application (v12) with the default password for the ‘admin’ user (‘Admin123’). It’s been a while, so I can’t remember if it prompted me for this password during installation.

Two questions:

1. On _initial installation_, how do I set the ‘admin’ user’s password to something other than ‘Admin123’?
2. On an existing installation, how can I _change_ the ‘admin’ user’s password?

Tx

When you [install](https://wiki.openmrs.org/display/docs/Installing+OpenMRS) OpenMRS Core, at one of the steps described [here](https://wiki.openmrs.org/display/docs/Step+6+-+Configure+OpenMRS), you will have the option of setting the credentials for the ‘admin’ user. That configuration screen will look like below:

From my understanding, if you install the Ref App through the SDK or through other ways, the above option may not be available

The answer to your second question can be found in the WIKI page [here](https://wiki.openmrs.org/display/docs/Administering+Users#AdministeringUsers-ResettingUserPasswords)
