Best Practices for Ticket Assignments

It is wonderful to see so many new folks eager to dive in and contribute to OpenMRS! That kind of energy is exactly what makes our community vibrant.

In the spirit of collaboration and respect, let’s follow some “golden rules” when it comes to assigning ourselves the tickets:

  1. There is plenty of work in the backlog! If you’re looking for a task, check for unassigned tickets with “To Do” status. If new to OpenMRS, you can check out some intro-tickets.

  2. If you see a ticket that has been idle for a long time and you’re interested, please reach out to the current owner with a quick comment on the ticket before taking it over. They might be nearly finished or just hit a small roadblock!

  3. For the new contributors, we have newbie calls happening every day (Mon & Wed, 12:00 noon – 1:00 pm EAT, Zoom Link: https://om.rs/community) where you can learn more about these processes and ask questions.

We are all here to build something great together, and maintaining a collaborative spirit is just as important as the code we write. Thank you for being so dedicated and part of the OpenMRS community!

how to contribute for the issues when issues will assign ?

Hi,

I don’t see any tickets. I have setup the server successfully. Can you please tell me where to contribute. I came to know about squad. If its squad can you tell me the process for this.

Here is the link for the backlog and some intro tickets, but those are usually picked very fast.
